Dr Angel Adams

Dr Angel Adams has worked as a clinician for over 28 years. Originally licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the US, she is also chartered and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with both the British Psychological Society and with the Health Professionals Council.

Dr Adams received her PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), a school within Alliant International University. It has an impeccable reputation for integrating research, theory and practice as well as preparing multi-culturally competent professionals. Her background includes extensive training in various models of clinical psychology including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and systemic family therapy. Working as an adult psychologist and as family therapist for 10 years, she then trained as a child psychologist. With 15 years in the NHS and Sutton CAMHS outpatient psychiatry team, she now works as a locum in the London Borough of Sutton’s Children with Disabilities Team.

In her private practice clinic, Dr Adams specializes in CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and mindfulness approach. She also offers an innovative Parent Training model called New Perspectives for parents with special needs children. She is an ADHD and autism specialist and her work involves assessment and diagnosis, psychometric testing, and implementation of therapeutic interventions for looked after children, adolescents and adults with a broad range of diagnoses. She offers social skills-training, cognitive problem-solving skills training and consultation to schools. She speaks frequently at support groups for the National Autistic Society.

She has conducted research on group intervention for children with ADHD which she has presented at two different National and International CHADD conferences. She appeared on prime-time TV, in which BBC2’s Horizon science series featured the programme ‘Living with ADHD’. Since 1994, she has been a guest speaker at many conferences and seminars across the UK, Europe and USA. She has also chaired various conferences on ADHD. She is a lecturer at St George’s Medical School, Royal Holloway University of London and Greenwich University.

Expert Witness

Dr Adams provides court reports in civil, criminal and family cases. She specialises in helping teens and young adults with ADHD or ASD who are involved in the criminal justice system for a variety of offenses. Her assessments are based on psychological testing, clinical interviewing, psychodiagnostic evaluation when appropriate, and includes a complete review of all the case documents. A review of the literature is conducted to reach a carefully considered, objective opinion.

Dr Patricia Papciak

Dr Patricia PapciakDr Patricia Papciak has been an educator in California for over 30 years. She taught English, French and Physical Education at a high school and university classes in teacher education at San Diego State University and Cal State San Marcos.

For five years she was the editor of the English Teachers’ Professional Journal in California and two years she taught in France on Fulbright teaching exchange.

Her undergraduate work is from U.C. Berkeley and her Ph.D. is from Claremont Graduate School.

Patricia has travelled extensively and often spends long periods of time in her husband’s family home in Northern Ireland.

Patricia is particularly interested in young people and how we can assist them in this dramatically changing world.

Patricia is also the co-author of the Monday Motivational Newsletters.

Dr Alfred Perera

Alfred PereraDr Alfred Perera is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist based in Crawley, West Sussex. He currently works part time in conjunction with Dr Angel Adams by sharing cases where psychiatry and medical input and advice is needed.

His special interests are in working with children with learning disabilities in partnership with families, schools and paediatric services. He has been trained in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy, and his special interests are in mood disorders, eating disorders, substance misuse and family therapy.
